The route begins at the parking area in Montes (a hamlet of Malè), where you can leave your car. Once on your bike, head down the paved road with a gentle descent towards Bolentina. Upon reaching the picturesque mountain village, the climb begins, surrounded by green meadows and wide pastures where, in summer, you can see cows grazing. Where the conifer forest starts, the road turns into a firm gravel surface and climbs gently at first, passing by some typical mountain huts.
A few steep sections (with reinforced concrete surface) alternate with pleasant gentle slopes; at km 5.1 you can make a very short detour (taking the gravel road towards the Lower Bolentina Alpine Hut, which offers a breathtaking view of the nearby Val di Rabbi and the surrounding mountain ranges).
The final uphill stretch, leading to the highest point of the route (1,600 m a.s.l.) at Piazza Marendaia, is steep but accessible with all vehicles, including e-tandems and e-handbikes. The view from Mas de la Cros rewards every effort: among the mountain peaks, you will notice the sunny Cimon di Bolentina standing out.
The return to the starting point follows a comfortable forest track up to Mas de Mez, where you get back on asphalt to reach Montes.
