The 'route takes place at an altitude of more than 2,500 meters at the foot of the Presena Glacier.
A moderately strenuous snowshoe hike that follows marked trails with snowshoe signage. The route is ideal if you are looking for an alternative to skiing but would like to join your skiing friends or relatives for lunch together in the Pontedilegno-Tonale ski area.
For snow hiking activities follow these guidelines:
Reach Passo Paradiso with the Paradiso gondola from Passo del Tonale, and from there follow the signs. The route runs in the Presena basin, at the foot of the Presena Glacier, a popular destination for skiers. The high altitude will give you spectacular views and you will walk in places of high historical value: several battles were fought in these places disputed between the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Kingdom of Italy during World War I. Today witness of these facts is the Monument to the Brotherhood, which you will green on your left, as soon as you get off the Paradiso gondola.
When you're just below Rifugio Capanna Presena, we suggest you continue along the edge of the slope until you reach the refuge and from there take the second trunk of the Presena gondola to reach Panorama 3000 Glacier. At 3,000 meters above sea level, this place will give you one of those views that sticks in your mind: a 360-degree view of Adamello, Lobbie, Presanella and Pian di Neve Glacier, the largest in the Italian Alps.
You can reach Passo del Tonale by Trentino Trasporti bus (download the round-trip schedule).
Drive along the SS42 until you reach the forecourt of the Paradiso gondola at Passo del Tonale.
You can park in the parking lot of the Paradiso gondola lift.
