The route develops in the Stelvio National Park among woods and meadows at the foot of the spectacular Valorz Waterfalls.

This walk crosses one of the most spectacular places in Val di Rabbi. You will get closer to tradition by passing among ancient farming farmsteads and will enter the woods, where some installations representing the forest animals, made from natural materials by the artist Maurizio Misseroni and accompanied by the verses of the poet Teresa Girardi, will accompany you along the path. On the way back, relax at the outdoor Kneipp route overlooking this wonderful postcard landscape.

This itinerary is part of the Uno Di Un Milione project.
Here you can participate in an experience of art, relationships and participation that will guide you along the water routes of Val di Sole and will let you discover how the valley community has creatively imagined its own vision to protect the environment and future generations.

Suggestions

After parking the car, before setting off on the hike, take a photo of the Val Valorz, with its characteristic alpine farmsteads, and on the way back, allow yourself some moments of relaxation and health at the outdoor kneipp centre. The route is suitable for families with children but is not accessible with strollers.

Safety information

The 10 rules for mountain walks:

  • the walkability of routes in a mountain environment is strictly linked to current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes and weather conditions. For this reason, get well informed about the route and its conditions before setting out. You can do so by contacting the nearest tourist office;
  • if you plan to reach an alpine hut or refuge, check that they are open and, if you intend to stop to eat or sleep, call ahead to book;
  • leave information about your itinerary and always carry your mobile phone;
  • in case of accident call the emergency number 112;
  • never leave waste on the mountain and, if possible, avoid leaving it at refuges or alpine farms you visit;
  • if you spot wild animals along the route, please stay on the path you are walking, do not approach them too closely, do not shout and keep your dog on a leash to prevent it from instinctively chasing and frightening them.

Starting point

San Bernardo

Directions

From the parking lot opposite the San Bernardo information office (1098 m), follow the signs for the Kneipp route (entrance fee applies), where the cultural route “Sentiero Rio Valorz” begins, along which you will be accompanied by animals created from natural materials by the artist Maurizio Misseroni and the verses of the poet Teresa Girardi. Passing through characteristic mountain farmsteads, which will tell you about the farming past of Val di Rabbi, you will cross woods where the presence of water will be constant. The circular route then ends by returning to the starting point.

Halfway along the route, near the Valorz parking lot, it is possible to take the SAT 121 trail towards the Valorz Waterfalls. Once you reach the waterfalls in just over half an hour, you can enjoy a picnic at the foot of the falls on one of the many tables/benches available in the area.
