Route that, starting from the shores of one of the most scenic lakes in Val di Sole, reaches Malga Alta di Fazzon and a splendid panoramic viewpoint on the upper Val di Peio.

Pleasant walk in the silence of the forest to reach Malga Alta di Fazzon, passing by Lago dei Caprioli, an iconic place of Val di Sole. The route is not particularly demanding and in about an hour's walk you will reach the malga, from where you will enjoy a beautiful view of the upper Val di Peio. We suggest a stop at the malga, where you can enjoy a typical zero-kilometer dish in the tranquility of the pastures, with the background sound of flowing water and cowbells. Here your children will find a real farm with goats, sheep, pigs, and cows.

Suggestions

We suggest a stop at Lago dei Caprioli to admire its beauty and a refreshing break at Malga Alta di Fazzon.

Safety information

To undertake a mountain hike we suggest you:

  • choose a route suitable for your fitness level. If in doubt, contact the Mountain Guides or our information offices;
  • prepare your hike: check weather forecasts, the route you will follow, and the operating times of lifts, if your itinerary includes their use. Remember that route accessibility in a mountain environment is strictly linked to current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, get well informed about the route and its conditions before leaving;
  • leave information about your itinerary, expected return time and bring your phone;
  • pay attention to signs on the path: Stelvio Park signs, white and red SAT signs, and red and white paint marks on stones or trees;
  • alert emergency services by calling 112 in case of accident;
  • book in advance the malga or refuge where you plan to stop for meals or overnight stays;
  • never leave waste in the mountains and, if possible, avoid leaving it at the refuges or malgas you visit;
  • if you spot wild animals along the path, we invite you to stay on the path you are walking, do not get too close, do not shout, and keep your dog on a leash to prevent it from instinctively chasing and scaring them.

ANTI COVID-19 RULES:

  • mask use must be respected even in the mountains;
  • keep a safety distance of at least 2 meters from others;
  • avoid sharing personal items, tools, bottles or flasks with others;
  • carry hand sanitizer to frequently disinfect hands and surfaces;

Directions

Once you reach Lago dei Caprioli, where we suggest a stop, take the forest road that runs behind the lake to enter a pleasant forest and reach Malga Alta di Fazzon (also called Malga Alta di Pellizzano). Shortly after, leave the road for the path, which crosses forest and pasture without ever being steep or challenging, until you suddenly see the malga.
The path is not difficult and is easily identifiable. Pay attention only to the entrance of the path at the second hairpin bend on the road above the lake.
