Rules for mountain hikes:
  • The passability of trails in a mountain environment is strictly linked to current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, make sure to get good information about the route and its conditions before you start. You can do this by contacting the nearest Information Office.
  • If you plan to reach an alpine hut or refuge, make sure they are open, and if you intend to stop for food or sleep, call them in advance to book.
  • Leave details about your itinerary and always carry your mobile phone with you.
  • In case of an accident, call the number 112.
  • Never leave waste in the high mountains, and if possible, avoid leaving it at the refuges or alpine huts you visit.
  • If you spot wild animals along the route, please stay on the trail you are following, do not get too close, do not shout, and keep your dog on a leash to prevent it from instinctively chasing them and frightening them.

Starting point

Marilleva 1400

Directions

Starting from the second hairpin bend on the road descending towards Marilleva 1400, you cross a small valley until you come to a dirt road, which is narrow for the first 300 meters and then widens. Follow it until you reach a provincial road. Carefully cross the road and take the trail to the Malghetto di Almazzago. After reaching the Daolasa-Val Mastellina cable car and the nearby Malghetto di Mastellina located at 1384 meters of altitude, continue into the dense coniferous forests and the silence among the trees until you reach the Malghetto di Almazzago. Here you can take a break to admire the Val di Sole from a new perspective. For the return, follow the same route in reverse.

You can also reach this spectacular natural panoramic terrace starting from the Malghetto di Mestriago, which can be reached from the road to Marilleva 1400, then following the same route to the Malghetto di Almazzago.

You can reach Marilleva 1400 with the MALE'-MEZZANA-MARILLEVA 1400 line of Trentino Trasporti (download the outbound and return schedules).

How to get there

Drive along the SS42 to Mezzana. At the roundabout, take the second exit towards Marilleva 1400 and follow the hairpin bends until you reach your destination.

Where to park

You can leave the car in the parking lots near the Information Office in Marilleva 1400.
To undertake this hike, we recommend wearing hiking boots and a hat, and bringing a backpack with a waterproof jacket, sunscreen, and a water bottle.
