The passability of trails in a mountain environment is strictly linked to current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, make sure to get good information about the route and its conditions before you start. You can do this by contacting the nearest Information Office.
If you plan to reach an alpine hut or refuge, make sure they are open, and if you intend to stop for food or sleep, call them in advance to book.
Leave details about your itinerary and always carry your mobile phone with you.
In case of an accident, call the number 112.
Never leave waste in the high mountains, and if possible, avoid leaving it at the refuges or alpine huts you visit.
If you spot wild animals along the route, please stay on the trail you are following, do not get too close, do not shout, and keep your dog on a leash to prevent it from instinctively chasing them and frightening them.

Starting point

Commezzadura - hamlet of Piano

Directions

Starting from the Piano parking lot, walk uphill along Via del Capitel until you take Via dei Coai on the right. Follow it until the fork where the trail to Deggiano starts. The trail continues at altitude until reaching the upper part of the village of Mestriago, then crosses meadows and a bridge over the stream. Take the path that leads to Loc. Novaia, a particularly panoramic point, then continue along the dirt road until you reach the trail that, on the left, climbs up to Deggiano. Below the church starts the trail that, crossing sunny meadows, leads back to the village of Mastellina. From here, return to Piano by walking along the pedestrian sidewalk that runs alongside the state road.

Alternatively, once you reach the village of Mestriago, you can climb to Loc. Novaia and return to the village of Mastellina, while embarking on the brand new treasure hunt “The Magical World of Aulasa.” The route starts from the information office in Mestriago, where you can pick up a booklet that explains the princess's story and all the necessary instructions to complete the treasure hunt.

You can reach the hamlet of Piano with the TRENTO-MALÉ-MARILLEVA train (download the outbound and return schedules).

Drive along the SS42 to the village of Commezzadura and then follow the signs to Piano.

You can park at the entrance of Piano.

To undertake this hike, we recommend wearing hiking boots and a hat, and bringing a backpack with a waterproof jacket, sunscreen, and a water bottle.
