Alpine hut close to the glacial lakes of the same name, on the border of Val di Rabbi and Val d’Ultimo in the Stelvio National Park.
Found in the proximity of Passo Rabbi which unites Trentino with Alto Adige and just a few minutes from the magnificent Lago Corvo. Following on an ascent to Cima Collechio, Val d’Ultimo or descending to Val Saent. This itinerary is very suitable for families with children.

From Lago Corvo, on the SAT 145 it is possible to gradually climb through hollows and dips and natural gravel and pebble pits until almost touching the summit of Monte Collechio (2.954m) from where you can see the entire Val Saent. Shortly afterwards, a descent to Passo del Giogo Nero (2.825m) from where a long walk on the SAT 107 will lead to Rifugio Saent Dorigoni.

E - Escursionistico (Hiker)

For the village of Piazzola go up to the tiny hamlet of Cavallar (1.450m). It is possible to leave from just above the village or you can reach Malga Samocleva (1.892m) with the shuttle bus from the Park (pre-booking is obligatory). From the malga there is a marvellous view of the Val di Rabbi: on the SAT 108 you enter the valley where the Rio Lago Corvo runs. Once past the torrent you will arrive at Malga Caldesa Alta, from where there is a view of the Brenta Dolomites and Presanella, and finally to Rifugio Stella Alpina at Lago Corvo (2.425m).

Public transportation

By train to Trento (Verona-Brennero line) and from here, take the Trento-Malè-Mezzana (Val di Sole) local train to any station where buses are available, for the latest timetable go to www.valdisole.net/EN/Public-Transportation

How to get there

FROM BOLOGNA-VERONA AND FROM BRENNERO
Take the A22 motorway and exit at Trento Nord (if you are coming from the south) or S. Michele all’Adige (if you coming from the north). Proceed in direction Cles, Val di Non, Val di Sole, to Val di Rabbi.

FROM BERGAMO-BRESCIA
Proceed along the SS42 (direction Passo Tonale) and follow the signs to Malè and Val di Rabbi.

Cross the entire Val di Rabbi. Just before the Bagni di Rabbi take the road to the right and follow the signs to Piazzola from where you can reach Cavallar and the car park. During the summer months, there is a shuttle bus from the park to Malga Samocleva. Where to park

Cavallar car park (2km from Piazzola di Rabbi)
Recommended equipment: Waterproof clothes, light but warm (the first layer of clothing in contact with the skin, should be made of polypropylene, a second layer should be of wool or felt (for insulation) and the third layer, waterproof windcheater raincoat in nylon or Gore-Tex and long trousers, heavy walking shoes, (avoid trainers) gloves, hat, a change of clothes, rucksack.
