Suggestions

Before or after skiing, we recommend indulging in a short walk in the village of Bolentina, where you can feel the traditions of the farming and genuine soul of its inhabitants.

Safety information

The stability of the snow cover is subject to sudden and unpredictable changes. Always check the avalanche bulletin (on www.meteotrentino.it or other sites if available for your area) and obtain very detailed information regarding the current weather conditions at the Val di Sole Alpine Guides Office. The gpx tracks are purely indicative of the route, but cannot be followed without a prior assessment of the slopes at the moment you intend to make the excursion.

From January 1, 2022, it is mandatory for ALL skiers to have an insurance policy that covers liability for damages or injuries caused to third parties. The revision of the mountain safety code requires all minors to wear helmets and prohibits skiers from consuming alcoholic beverages.

Starting point

Bolentina

Directions

Arriving by car at Bolentina, pass through the inhabited center towards Mas de Mez and at the first hairpin turn, park in a lay-by beside the road. From here, with skis on your feet, take the narrow path on the right towards Malga Bassa through stretches of dense larch woods covered with snow and wide sunny spaces where you can enjoy the slight warmth of the winter sun. First, you reach the Malga Bassa of Bolentina, and then the recently built small hut of Mas de la Cros. The descent is planned along the Piazza Merendaia locality and then along the path that leads back to the starting point.

Public transportation

You can reach Bolentina with the Trentino Trasporti line bus MALÈ - BOLENTINA (download the schedules for outbound and return).

How to get there

Take the SS42 and at the junction for the inhabited center of Terzolas, exit to the right and follow the road to the roundabout for Val di Rabbi. At the roundabout, take the third exit and after passing the arch of the town of Malè, turn right and follow the road to Bolentina.

Where to park

You can leave your car on the lay-by after the first hairpin turn on the road towards Mas de Mez.

For all ski mountaineering excursions, proper clothing is recommended even in case of sudden temperature drops. It is necessary to wear suitable technical clothing that does not get wet on contact with snow (Gore-Tex type), gloves, hat, sunglasses, and protective sunscreen.

It is mandatory to have with you the self-rescue kit composed of Artva-Shovel-Probe (which can possibly be rented, see the shops where it can be rented here). It is also recommended to wear a helmet (for minors, the helmet is mandatory) or other active protection systems (e.g., backpacks with ABS-Airbag systems).

In the case of hard or icy snow, it is advisable to use crampons.
