Suggestions

We recommend having lunch by the lake at Chalet near  Lago dei Caprioli, where traditional products meet modern presentation and pairings.

Safety information

For snow hiking activities, please follow these guidelines:
  • Get well-informed about the route and its conditions before heading out. You can do this by contacting the nearest tourist information office.
  • Check the weather forecast and avalanche bulletin the day before your hike.
  • If you plan to reach an alpine hut or shelter, ensure they are open and call in advance to make reservations if you intend to eat or stay there.
  • If you don't feel well before starting, postpone the trip until you're feeling better.
  • Never leave litter at higher altitudes, and, if possible, avoid leaving it at the huts or alpine shelters you visit.
  • If you spot wildlife along the trail, we kindly ask you not to approach, refrain from shouting, and keep your dog on a leash to prevent them from instinctively chasing and scaring the animals.

Directions

In the town of Pellizzano, follow the signs for Fazzon-Lago dei Caprioli. Park at the second hairpin turn and take the educational trail "Senter dela Palù," which leads to Malga Bassa di Fazzon-Visitor Center. The trail is also known as the 'gnome trail' due to the wooden and natural structures along the path that evoke forest gnomes. From Malga Bassa, continue along the main road to Lake dei Caprioli, a popular summer destination that transforms into a completely different, snow and ice-covered landscape in winter.

We recommend a delicious stop at the Chalet Lago dei Caprioli. If you plan to have lunch or dinner there, please, before embarking on your hike, check their opening hours and make a reservation at (+39) 0463 751157.

To return, you can retrace your steps on the same path, or alternatively, on the right side of the parking lot, take the flat road that leads you to Valpiana in about 3 km. From there, follow the 'In Valpiana' route, which takes you to Ossana.

Public transportation

You can reach Pellizzano by taking the Trentino Trasporti bus on the MALÈ - MEZZANA - FUCINE - COGOLO-PEIO line (download the departure and return schedules).

How to get there

Drive along SS42 until you reach Pellizzano, and then follow the sign for Lago dei Caprioli - Fazzon, which will turn you left (if coming from Malè-Dimaro-Mezzana) onto Via Baschenis. Leave your car in Pellizzano and continue on foot along the asphalt road until the second hairpin turn, where the trail begins.

Where to park

Follow the signs to Lago dei Caprioli - Fazzon, and park your car on the side of the road near the playground.
