Suggestions

We suggest you take a break at Malga Monte Sole to warm up and enjoy a delicious hot meal.

Safety information

The stability of the snowpack is subject to sudden and unpredictable changes. Always consult the avalanche bulletin (on www.meteotrentino.it or other available websites for your area) and gather detailed information about the current weather conditions from the Alpine Guides Office of Val di Sole. GPX tracks are purely indicative of the route but cannot be followed without a prior evaluation of the slopes at the time of the excursion.

As of January 1st, 2022, it is mandatory for ALL skiers to have an insurance policy that covers liability for damages or injuries caused to third parties. The revision of the mountain safety code requires all minors to wear helmets and prohibits skiers from consuming alcoholic beverages.

Starting point

Rabbi Fonti

Directions

After leaving the car at the parking lot located near the thermal establishment, it's time to put on your skis. From here, you take the forest road marked with the sign 'Malga Monte Sole,' which is groomed with a snowcat for the first stretch, up to the first hairpin turn at Fontanon. From here, after crossing the Cercen bridge, the ascent continues, and after a few switchbacks, you reach Malga Fassa. Once past the mountain hut, you proceed uphill for a short stretch, and as soon as the forest begins to thin out, giving way to a spectacular view of the surrounding peaks, you reach Malga Monte Sole Alta. For the descent, you follow the forest road back to Rabbi Fonti.

How to get there

You can reach Rabbi Bagni by taking the Trentino Trasporti MALÈ - RABBI BAGNI - SOMRABBI line bus (download the schedules for departure and return). Drive along SS42 and take the exit for Terzolas, turn right and pass through the village.

Where to park

You can leave your car in the parking lot near the Terme di Rabbi
For all ski mountaineering excursions, appropriate clothing is recommended even in the event of sudden temperature drops. It is necessary to wear suitable technical clothing that does not get wet when in contact with snow (such as Gore-Tex), gloves, hat, sunglasses, and protective sunscreen.

It is mandatory to have the self-rescue kit composed of Avalanche Transceiver-Shovel-Probe with you (which can be rented if necessary, see the shops where it is possible to rent it here). It is also advisable to wear a helmet (for minors, wearing a helmet is mandatory) or other active protection systems (e.g., backpacks with ABS-Airbag systems).

In case of hard or icy snow, the use of crampons is recommended.
