Tour with ski mountaineering that with a first demanding and then steady ascent, reaches the Malga Monte Sole.
Pleasant ascent with ski mountaineering on a comfortable forest road partly groomed by a snowcat which, after crossing the Cercen bridge, first reaches Malga Fassa and then Malga Monte Sole. Upon reaching the hut, after traveling about 7 kilometers and 850 meters of altitude gain, you cannot miss the opportunity to taste delicious typical dishes with a spectacular view of the Val di Rabbi and the surrounding peaks.
The stability of the snow cover is subject to sudden and unpredictable changes. Always check the avalanche bulletin (on www.meteotrentino.it or other websites if available for your area) and get well informed about the current weather conditions at the Val di Sole Alpine Guides Office. The GPX tracks are purely indicative of the route but cannot be followed without a prior assessment of the slopes at the time you plan to do the excursion.
Since January 1, 2022, it is mandatory for ALL skiers to have an insurance policy covering liability for damages or injuries caused to third parties. The revision of the mountain safety code requires all minors to wear a helmet and prohibits skiers from consuming alcohol.
After leaving the car in the parking lot located near the spa facility, it's time to put on the skis. From here, you start along the forest road marked "Malga Monte Sole" which for the first stretch is groomed by a snowcat, up to the first hairpin bend at the Fontanon locality. From here, after crossing the Cercen bridge, the ascent continues and after some hairpin bends you reach Malga Fassa. Having passed the hut, you continue for a short climb and as soon as the forest begins to thin out, giving way to a spectacular view of the surrounding peaks, you reach Malga Monte Sole Alta. For the descent, follow the forest road that returns to Rabbi Fonti.
You can reach Rabbi Bagni with the Trentino Trasporti line bus MALÈ - RABBI BAGNI - SOMRABBI (download the schedules for outbound and return).
Follow the SS42 and at the exit for Terzolas, turn right and go past the village. At the roundabout, take the second exit towards Val di Rabbi and follow the SP86 until you reach Rabbi Bagni.
You can leave the car in the parking lot near the Rabbi Thermal Baths.
For all ski mountaineering excursions, appropriate clothing is recommended even in case of sudden drops in temperature. It is necessary to wear suitable technical clothing that does not get wet in contact with snow (such as Gore-Tex), gloves, hat, sunglasses and protective sunscreen.
It is mandatory to carry the self-rescue kit composed of ARTVA-Shovel-Probe (which can be rented, see the shops where it is possible to rent it here). It is also recommended to wear a helmet (mandatory for minors) or other active protection systems (e.g., backpacks with ABS-Airbag systems).
In case of hard or icy snow, the use of crampons is recommended.
