Alpine refuge near the homonymous glacial lakes, on the border between Val di Rabbi and Val d’Ultimo in Stelvio National Park.
It is located near Passo Rabbi, which connects Trentino to South Tyrol, and a few minutes from the enchanting Lago Corvo. From here you can climb to Cima Collechio, Val d’Ultimo or descend towards Val Saent. This route is very suitable for families with children.

Suggestions

From Lago Corvo, along SAT 145 you can gradually ascend through hollows, depressions, and natural scree and gravel fields to almost reach the summit of Monte Collechio (2,954m), from which you can see the entire Val Saent. Shortly after, a descent to Passo del Giogo Nero (2,825m) from which a long walk on SAT 107 leads to Saent Dorigoni Refuge.

E - Hiker (Hiker)

From the village of Piazzola, climb up to the small hamlet of Cavallar (1,450m). You can start just above the village or reach Malga Samocleva (1,892m) by shuttle bus from the Park (reservation required). From the hut there is a splendid view of the Val di Rabbi: on SAT 108 you enter the valley where the Rio Lago Corvo flows. After crossing the stream you arrive at Malga Caldesa Alta, from which you can see the Brenta Dolomites group and the Presanella, and finally at the Stella Alpina Refuge at Lago Corvo (2,425m).

Public transportation

By train to Trento (Verona-Brenner line) and from here take the local train Trento-Malè-Mezzana (Val di Sole) to any station served by bus, for updated schedules visit www.valdisole.net/EN/Public-Transportation

How to get there

FROM BOLOGNA-VERONA AND BRENNERO
Take the A22 motorway and exit at Trento Nord (if coming from the south) or S. Michele all’Adige (if coming from the north). Continue towards Cles, Val di Non, Val di Sole, towards Val di Rabbi.

FROM BERGAMO-BRESCIA
Continue along SS42 (direction Passo Tonale) and follow signs to Malè and Val di Rabbi.

Cross the entire Val di Rabbi. Just before the Bagni di Rabbi take the road on the right and follow the signs to Piazzola from where you can reach Cavallar and the parking lot. In summer months there is a shuttle bus from the park to Malga Samocleva. Where to park

Cavallar parking lot (2 km from Piazzola di Rabbi)
Recommended equipment: Waterproof clothing, lightweight but warm (the layer in contact with the skin should be polypropylene, the second layer in wool or fleece for insulation, and the third layer, a windproof waterproof jacket in nylon or Gore-Tex), long pants, sturdy mountain boots (avoid sneakers), gloves, hat, a change of clothes, backpack.
