Starting point

Municipality of the Comune of Ossana

Directions

The itinerary starts near the Municipality of Ossana, where there is a convenient car park with spaces reserved for people with disabilities. If you haven’t already, take some time to visit the village of Ossana, named one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Don’t miss the chance to visit San Michele Castle, truly fascinating with its imposing keep that offers a unique view over the Val di Sole. Starting from Ossana, you cycle quickly uphill on a winding paved road until you reach Valpiana, where green pastures, fresh waters, and rocky cliffs will leave you breathless. The view from here extends over Val di Bon and Monte Giner. For those who want to take a short break, it is possible to continue on the paved road in Valpiana up to the homonymous mountain hut (malga).

From here, you take a short stretch of dirt road with a gentle climb that, skirting the slopes of Monte Salvat, quickly leads to Lago dei Caprioli, a charming glacial lake around which you can complete a simple and panoramic loop and enjoy a lunch break featuring local dishes at the Chalet Lago dei Caprioli, located right on the lake’s shore.

The route, having reached its highest point here (altitude 1,311 m a.s.l.), continues downhill on asphalt (be careful of cars and a short unlit tunnel) to the village of Pellizzano; then you return to Ossana on the cycle path.

Attention! From summer 2024, the Greenbus service is active: every Wednesday in July, from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm, a shuttle service will run from the villages of Ossana and Pellizzano to Lago dei Caprioli and Valpiana. During the service, a one-way traffic system will be in force from 9:15 am to 5:15 pm towards Lago dei Caprioli and from 10:00 am to 5:15 pm towards Valpiana.

Public transportation

You can reach the village of Ossana by taking the TRENTO - MALE' - MARILLEVA train (download departure and arrival timetables) and then the local bus (download departure and arrival timetables). Ossana is also accessible via the convenient Smartbus service, which allows you to bring your bicycle on board.

How to get there

Follow the SS42 and once you reach Ossana, turn left onto provincial road 202 and continue until you reach the town hall.

Where to park

You can park your car in the parking lots near the Ossana Town Hall, where spaces reserved for disabled people are also available.
Based on your abilities and fitness level, this itinerary can be done both with an e-tandem and an e-handbike. Remember to bring a snack, water, and a repair kit that includes a spare tube, pump, glue, patches, and a set of tools for quick repairs.
