A short and simple walk, ideal for botany lovers who want to discover the secrets of the tree species of the Val di Peio.
From mountain maple to black elder, passing through hawthorn, ash, raspberry... This simple educational-naturalistic route takes us on a discovery of the fascinating world of local tree species. Small signs allow the identification and correct definition, including dialectal, of each plant. Along the short path you can observe a wide variety of forest plants typical of alpine environments such as mountain maple, black elder, red elder, hazel, goat willow, larch, Norway spruce, hawthorn, birch, white alder, trembling poplar, cherry, ash, raspberry, bird cherry, mountain rowan, black locust, red-leaved rose, dog rose, barberry, blackthorn, mosses and lichens present on trunks and branches.

Starting point
Pegàia di Cogolo
Directions
The circular route starts in the locality of Pegaia di Cogolo and develops on the slope below the settlement of Peio Paese. The tree species characterizing the route are marked with small signs that allow for plant identification while also indicating the path to follow.
Upon arrival in the settlement of Cogolo, before the Idropejo plant, turn right following the signs for Val de la Mare, after about 1 km there is a small parking area to leave the car and start the route.

The simplicity that characterizes this scenic forest walk makes the route accessible to everyone, without special technical equipment. However, trekking shoes or boots and possibly trekking poles are recommended.
