A medium-high difficulty hike that develops on Monte Tonale Orientale up to the Strino lakes, located opposite Presanella, the highest peak of Trentino.
Circular route that, crossing the steep grassy pastures of Monte Tonale Orientale, reaches the famous Città Morta, an ancient Austro-Hungarian military settlement from the First World War. Continuing along the trail, you reach the Strino Lakes, beautiful alpine lakes at the foot of Monte Redival. The route ends by following the Bozerlait trail and then Forte Zaccarana.

Once the car is left at the Valbiolo chairlift parking lot, you reach the Hotel La Mirandola on foot, where you take the SAT 111 trail. At the junction, you take the SAT 161 trail which, after passing wide grassy pastures on Monte Tonale Orientale, arrives at the Città Morta: an old Austro-Hungarian military settlement dating back to the First World War, where it will be possible to see up close the dry stone walls of the buildings that once made up the village. From here, continue until after about an hour and a half from the junction, you reach the lower Strino lake and then the upper one, located at the foot of Monte Redival. For the return, follow a circular route, taking the SAT 137 trail until the junction with the SAT 160 trail, which is followed to Forte Zaccarana and then to Passo del Tonale.
You can reach Passo del Tonale by train TRENTO - MALÈ - MEZZANA up to Malé and then by the Trentino Trasporti line bus MALÈ - MEZZANA - FUCINE - VERMIGLIO - TONALE (download departure and return times).
Follow the SS42 to Passo del Tonale.
