Malga Artisè (Terzolasa)

Safety information

For a mountain hike we suggest you:

• choose a route suitable for your level. In case of doubt, contact the Alpine Guides or our Information Offices
• prepare your hike: check the weather forecast, the route you will take and the timings of the lifts, if your itinerary includes them. Remember that the passability of routes in mountain environments is strictly linked to current conditions and depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes and weather. Therefore, inform yourself well about the route and its conditions before leaving
• leave information about your itinerary, the approximate return time and carry your mobile phone with you
• pay attention to the signs and markings on the route: Stelvio Park signs, white and red SAT signs and red and white brushstrokes on stones or trees
• book in advance the mountain hut or refuge where you intend to stop to eat or sleep
• never leave waste at altitude and, if possible, avoid leaving it at the refuges or mountain huts you visit
• if you spot wild animals along the route, we invite you to stay on the path, do not approach them too closely, do not shout and keep your dog on a leash to avoid it instinctively chasing them, frightening them

Starting point

Directions

Once you have left the car at the Cavallar parking lot in Val di Rabbi, located in the homonymous hamlet, set off along the SAT path no. 130 which rises with a steady slope following switchbacks until you reach a larch forest. Here in autumn, you can pause with your nose up to enjoy the fascinating palette of colors that tint the larches. Continuing along the path, in about an hour and a half you will reach Malga Artisé, located at 1,890 meters above sea level.

Public transportation

You can reach the Cavallar parking lot by the MALÈ - RABBI BAGNI - SOMRABBI local bus (download the outbound and return timetables) up to Piazzola. From Piazzola, you can reach the parking lot on foot in about 40 minutes. During the summer months, you can reach Malga Cespedé (Samocleva) with the Stelviobus Val di Rabbi and reach Malga Artisé on foot following the signs.

How to get there

Follow the SS42 to the exit for the center of the village of Terzolas. Then follow Via Nazionale until you reach the roundabout and exit at the second exit towards Val di Rabbi. From here follow the SP86 until you reach the junction for the village of Piazzola. Here turn right and follow the signs to the Cavallar parking lot.

Where to park

You can leave your car at the Cavallar parking lot.

For a mountain hike it is always useful to:

• wear hiking boots suitable for uneven, irregular, and wet ground, long trousers, a hat, and sunglasses
• put in your backpack a waterproof jacket, a fleece sweater, a hat and gloves, sunscreen, minimum spare clothing
• bring a water bottle and snacks for energy drops (dried fruit, bars or chocolate)
