Safety information

For a mountain hike we suggest you:

• choose a route suitable for your condition. If in doubt, contact the Mountain Guides or our Information Offices
• prepare your hike: check the weather forecast, the route you will follow, and the opening times of the ski lifts, if your itinerary includes their use. Remember that the passability of routes in a mountain environment is closely linked to the current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, get well informed about the route and its conditions before setting out
• leave information about your itinerary, the approximate time of return, and bring your mobile phone with you
• pay attention to the signs and markings you find on the route: Stelvio Park signs, white and red SAT signs, and red and white strokes on stones or trees
• book in advance the malga or refuge where you intend to stop to eat or sleep
• never leave waste in the mountains and, if possible, avoid leaving it at the refuges or malgas you visit
• if you spot wild animals along the way, we invite you to stay on the path you are following, do not get too close, do not shout, and keep your dog on a leash to prevent it from instinctively chasing and frightening them

Starting point

Directions

Once you have parked your car near the Venetian Saw Mill of Dimaro, you start walking into the wild Val Meledrio. If you have never visited the saw mill, we recommend you take some time to do so. Here you can see how wood was once worked, using the force of the water from the Meledrio stream. Once you have passed the saw mill, cross the SP239 by walking through the underpass and reach the entrance of Val Meledrio. Here follow the forest road that branches off inside it until you reach near the Pison Waterfall and then the Malga di Presson within the Adamello Brenta Natural Park, the largest protected area in Trentino.

You can reach Dimaro by the MALÉ - FOLGARIDA - MADONNA DI CAMPIGLIO line bus (download the outbound and return schedules).

How to get there

Follow the SS42 and at the roundabout take the third exit and follow the SS239 until you reach the Venetian Saw Mill.

Where to park

You can leave your car near the Saw Mill.

For a mountain hike it is always useful to:

• wear trekking boots suitable for uneven, irregular, and wet ground, long pants, a hat, and sunglasses
• pack in your backpack a waterproof jacket, a fleece shirt, hat and gloves, sunscreen, and a minimum set of spare clothes
• bring a water bottle and snacks for energy dips (dried fruit, bars, or chocolate)
