Easy walk starting from the Segheria Veneziana in Dimaro, leading into the wild Val Meledrio
Easy route suitable for families, starting from the Segheria Veneziana in Dimaro, following the Meledrio stream to the hydroelectric power plant of the Municipality of Dimaro-Folgarida.
Rules for mountain walks:
The walk starts at the ancient Segheria Veneziana located at the edge of the village of Dimaro, on the road to Madonna di Campiglio. Take some time to visit it and observe its fascinating wooden and iron mechanisms in operation. From the sawmill, after a short stretch of path, go under the main road via an underpass and take the dirt road that climbs along the Meledrio stream. Here you first pass an old restored forge, then an old lime kiln, until you reach the hydroelectric power station of the municipality of Dimaro Folgarida. From here, you can return to Dimaro following the same route along the magnificent Val Meledrio. Alternatively, from the hammer mill you can cross the footbridge over the Meledrio stream, taking the flat path of the “léc” (local dialect term defining the irrigation channel for the fields, now disused) leading to the “Gnoca” locality where there is a small park. From here descend to the church of Carciato and then return to Dimaro via a comfortable sidewalk.
You can reach Dimaro by the TRENTO-MALÉ-MEZZANA train (download the outbound and return timetables)
From Val di Sole follow the SS42 to Dimaro and, at the roundabout, take the SS 239 towards Folgarida - Madonna di Campiglio. After about 800 meters, the Segheria Veneziana of Dimaro will be on the right, where the route starts.
To take this walk we recommend wearing hiking boots and a hat and bringing a waterproof jacket, sunscreen, and a water bottle in your backpack.
