Safety information

 Rules for mountain walks:

  • the passability of routes in a mountain environment is strictly linked to current conditions and depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, get information about the route and its conditions before setting out. You can do this by contacting the nearest Information Office;
  • if you plan to reach an alpine hut or refuge, make sure they are open and, if you intend to stay to eat or sleep, call in advance to book;
  • leave information about your itinerary and always carry a mobile phone;
  • in case of accident call 112;
  • never abandon waste at altitude and, if possible, avoid leaving it at the refuges or alpine huts you visit;
  • if you spot wild animals along the route, please stay on the path you are following, do not approach them too closely, do not shout, and keep your dog on a leash to prevent instinctively chasing and frightening them.

Starting point

Terzolas - Palazzo Torraccia

Directions

From the village of Terzolas, near Palazzo Torraccia, you head towards Samoclevo passing through Piazza della Chiesa and Via dei Canopi, following the signs for Valley trail no. 7. Once you reach Samoclevo, you can continue east on a comfortable flat path for about 4 km north of the villages of San Giacomo, Tozzaga, Bordiana, and Bozzana. From the main path, three branches lead off to the left, each requiring about 50 minutes: the first at Samoclevo to reach the homonymous Rocca, an ancient keep once used to control passage through the Noce Valley; the second above San Giacomo to reach the "Sassias" rock climbing area and the "cupmarked stones," which are boulders with curious hemispherical cavities; the third, above Bordiana, to reach the so-called "Trenches" of Bordiana and Bozzana, with ruins of positions dating back to World War I, where the observation slits and dug paths are still visible. From here, it is possible to descend to the village of Bordiana, where you can return to Terzolas by bus or by train.

Alternatively, once you reach Samoclevo, after passing the fountain behind the church, take the uphill road on the left, and at the fork, you can return to Terzolas by turning left onto a comfortable and sunny dirt road, reaching the small village of Arnago. The path continues downhill to the hamlet of Magras, which you cross to return to the starting point.

Public transportation

You can reach the village of Terzolas by the TRENTO-MALÉ-MARILLEVA train (download the departure and return schedules). To reach Palazzo Torraccia, walk straight along Via Longa and turn right onto Via Roma until you reach the square.

How to get there

Follow the SS42 following the signs for Terzolas. At the Malé/Terzolas/Val di Rabbi exit, exit right and turn right onto Via della Campagna until you reach the square.

Where to park

You can park in the center of Terzolas.
