From Malè to Rifugio Peller, a wonderful panoramic route across the Brenta Dolomites.

A very panoramic route among the most evocative for the many environments crossed: from the dense and shady fir woods of Val di Sole to the warmer and drier areas, rich in broadleaved trees on the south side of Monte Peller, from the large grassy clearings of Verdè to the equally vast high mountain meadows of Passo Forcola. A sunny route, ideal in the early summer months for the rich floral variety found.

Safety information

As you can imagine, the passability of routes in a mountain environment is closely linked to current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this sheet may have changed. Before setting off, check the status of the route by contacting the tourist offices.

Starting point

Cycle Path - Molini di Malè locality

Directions

Departure from the cycle path near the bridge over the Noce river at the Molini di Malè locality (the renovated sawmill is visible). Follow the cycle path alongside the Noce until the Molini di Terzolas locality. From here, take an uphill forest road that climbs more than 1000 meters in altitude over about 10 km through dense woods. After the last flat section, you reach Passo le Fraìne - 1,712 m and take the road towards Rifugio Peller. The road, with some changes in slope, enters the wide alpine meadows until Lago Durigal of karstic origin. Here by continuing to the right you arrive at the visible Rifugio Peller (1,923 m), continuing to the left, a very steep climb leads to the south-facing slopes of Monte Peller towards Malga Tassulla and the underlying Val di Tovel, which extends for 12 km to the homonymous small lake at 1,178 m, caused by a landslide dam on a glacial basin. At this point the panorama is vast, overlooking the series of valleys up to the snowy mountains and peaks of Austria. You then reach Bivacco G. Pinamonti (Malga Tassulla) - 2,090 m - where the road ends facing the wide Pian della Nana valley. Several alpine trails enter it and lead to the heart of the Brenta group; on the right, follow the SAT path no. 336 which shortly leads at mid-slope to the visible Passo della Forcola (2,106 m), the watershed between Val di Non and Val di Sole. From here a steep descent leads to the beautiful Salare pond. Then descend again to Malga Selva di Croviana. If you pay attention on the right of the hut on a small hill there is a little church. Here the view of the valley peaks is very suggestive. Resume the descent and after several hairpin bends you reach the valley floor at Molini di Croviana. Just past the bridge over the Noce, take the Val di Sole cycle path on the right that brings us back to Malè.

Public transportation

From Trento, ascend to Val di Sole up to the Malé station with the electric railway “Trento - Malé - Mezzana” which allows bike transport in the carriages. For more information: https://www.trentinotrasporti.it/viaggia-con-noi/ferrovia.
