Medium-difficulty snowshoe hike, which develops along trails and forest roads marked and indicated by a specific sign showing a snowshoe.
This itinerary offers long sunny and panoramic stretches: you will enjoy beautiful views of Val di Rabbi, Val di Sole, and Val di Non.
Along the route, it is not uncommon to spot wild animals. If you do, please do not scare them or try to approach them.
Fully enjoy the peculiarities of this route: the silence and peace that nature and the beautiful panoramas offer.
For snow hiking activities follow these guidelines:
Bolentina (1,161 m) - Mas de Mez (1,317 m) - Piazza Merentaia (1,510 m) - Mas de la Cros (1,601 m) - Malga Bolentina Bassa (1,510 m)
From Malé reach the hamlet of Bolentina and, staying on the main road, pass it until the first hairpin turn. Here we invite you to park your car and follow the paved road until, after three hairpin turns, you reach the Mas de Mez locality. Continue following the signs until the Piazza Merentaia locality, a perfect place in summer for picnics and outdoor barbecues, and proceed while the Cimon de Bolentina with its summit cross accompanies you in the background.
Keep walking to Mas de la Cros, a great sunny spot to admire the panorama and, if you have a sled with you, to have fun sledding along snowy stretches (the walking time to the small hut Mas de la Cros is about one and a half hours).
From here the route continues into the woods and, descending in altitude, reaches in about 20 minutes the Malga di Bolentina Bassa, from where you can admire an unmissable glimpse of the Val di Rabbi. Continue south and southeast and after about 40 minutes, having reached the 'seghe locality', you will have another beautiful view, this time of the lower Val di Sole. Continuing further, in about 30 minutes you will reach the parking lot where you left your car.
If your physical condition and the circumstances allow it, fully aware that from here on you will no longer find the blue snowshoe sign that characterizes the beaten and marked routes 'Walk on foot in winter', you could continue from Malga Bolentina Bassa to Malga Bolentina Alta (Malga Senage Alta - 1,832 m) and, taking the path on the left, reach the Bivacco Marinelli, dedicated to the young alpine guide Dino Marinelli, who died prematurely.
From Malga Senage the path alternates quite steep sections with less demanding ones, but hang in there: as soon as you reach the bivouac, every effort will disappear, before one of the most fascinating views the valley offers you, ranging from Monte Peller to Sasso Rosso, from the Brenta Dolomites to the Adamello - Presanella Group.
The hamlet of Bolentina is reachable from Malè by the Trentino Trasporti bus ONLY on school days, according to this schedule.
