Pure emotion

Thrilling adventure in the wilderness

Gorges and ravines

Canyoning (or canyoneering) is diving down narrow canyons or gorges that are cut into the rock. You have to follow the water flow and pass over everything you encounter on the way down: waterfalls, drops, small lakes. How? Thanks to several techniques and types of equipment that is also used for mountain climbing - like ropes, climbing harnesses, carabiners - and for whitewater sports.
This is a group activity and it gives you the chance to discover areas of the mountain that are normally hidden or that are inaccessible. You don't need to have any particular physical preparation to try this activity and you don't need to know how to swim but you do need to feel comfortable in water.

THE EMOTION THAT YOU REALLY WEREN'T EXPECTING

Why try it?

Because...

  • it gives you the chance to explore naturally spectacular areas that would otherwise be very difficult to reach, you'll feel as if you are going right inside of the mountain
  • you'll go on a sensational journey as you constantly overcome what you thought were your personal limits
  • nonetheless, the professionalism and expert knowledge of the guides will definitely instill a sense of self-confidence and provide utmost safety during the entire adventure

THIS IS NOT AN EXTREME SPORT

Canyoning is not...

This is a group activity with varying difficulty levels, some of them also suitable for kids, a potentially unforgettable experience in untamed nature. Canyoning is not:

  • a rafting, canoeing or riverboarding descent on the river: canyoning is often confused with whitewater sports but it’s completely different even though certain techniques used in exploratory paddling or riverboarding are used
  • speleology: you will however cross through narrow gorges and your guide will provide you with  information on the type of rock that you are crossing through
  • mountaineering or climbing: even though some of the same techniques are used
  • an extreme sport: not necessarily, because you can choose between various types of itineraries and routes with different skill levels, each requiring a different level of physical preparation. It is however recommended that you feel comfortable in water
