WHAT TO EXPECT /ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

A guided excursion in the Stelvio National Park to experience deer mating behaviour with all your senses. The Park’s wildlife expert will provide an explanation about deer and their habits during dinner at the “malga” hut. The silence and darkness of the night during the walk in the woods will let you better appreciate the sounds, smells and moves of nature’s most fascinating duels.

The Stelvio National Park is the largest protected nature park in the Alps: it extends across four provinces and two regions. Surrounded by the magical atmosphere of the woods at the beginning of autumn, the silence of the woods will be broken by the powerful sounds of deer bellowing in the night.

WHAT WE SUPPLY

To discover the animals in the woods, a thermal imaging camera will be provided by the Park. Contact can be avoided with a thermal camera because the images will be shown on a screen. A headlight is also needed to safely walk in the woods at night. Please bring one with you. If you don’t have one, you can borrow one of the Park’s that will be disinfected before use.
The price also includes dinner in a traditional malga hut, where you will have a chance to talk about the wildlife with a Stelvio National Park expert.
 

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE

This activity is perfect if you love nature. Suitable for adults and families with children preferably age 10+ .

Elevation gain from 100 to 300 meters, the itinerary is approximately 3 to 5 km long.

EQUIPMENT/CLOTHING

Hiking boots, jacket, backpack, waterproof wind jacket, comfortable and warm clothing. 

Face mask in compliance with COVID-19 safety guidelines.
 

MEETING POINT
  • Excursion in Val di Peio (on Friday 23 September, Saturday 1 October, Friday 7 October): meeting point at the main headquarters of the Stelvio National Park in Cogolo.
    At the junction to Val di Peio, take the SP 87 provincial road to Cogolo di Peio. At the entrance to the town follow via Roma and continue onwards for approx. 50 meters until you reach n. 65
  • Excursion in Val di Rabbi (on Saturday 24 September, Saturday 30 Septembe, Saturday 8 October): meeting point at the Visitors Center in Rabbi Fonti.Rabbi Fonti along the SP 86 provincial road, just before the thermal spa center.

You will need to take your own vehicle from the meeting point to the starting point of the excursion. 

IN CASE OF BAD WEATHER

In case of bad weather conditions, this activity will be cancelled and postponed or you can ask for a refund.
