Have you ever heard the stag’s roar?

Between September and October, the forests of Stelvio National Park echo with a mysterious and unforgettable call: the roar of the stag. A hoarse sound emitted by the males during the mating season to intimidate rivals in love.

With the guidance of the Park’s experts, you can experience this unique phase of the Alpine season. Using a special infrared device, you will be able to observe the stags and other wildlife in the park even at night.

For the stags, autumn is the mating season, and during this period they sing their love song to win over the females: the stag’s roar. If the roar is not enough, rivals engage in physical combat, antler against antler, rack against rack.

Daytime excursion

The evening begins with a brief introduction to Stelvio National Park and its wildlife, followed by a traditional dinner at a mountain hut or agriturismo with educational moments. At 9:30 PM, enjoy a nighttime forest excursion using an infrared thermal camera.
