The route develops in the town of Dimaro Folgarida inside the hamlets of Monclassico and Presson: an open-air art gallery with over 50 sundials scattered around various points of the two towns.
Walking through the streets of these small villages you will feel like you are in a true open-air gallery that changes depending on the season you undertake the route. The sundials scattered in various points of the two villages are more than 50 and were created by artists of local, national and international renown with the collaboration of expert gnomonists and at the behest of the "Le Meridiane" Cultural Association (scholars who deal with (among these the special Horizontal Sundial and the camera obscura).
To undertake a mountain hike we suggest you:
You start from the Church of Dimaro towards the small village of Carciato. Just after the bridge over the Meledrio stream, continue on the sidewalk that winds through the green meadows of the area, then take a small path on the left that first runs along the stream and then along the Noce river until you reach Via San Giovanni and then Via Molini. Through a comfortable pedestrian underpass that leads to the village of Monclassico, you can begin the visit to the sundials which takes about an hour and a half.
You can request the specific sundials brochure at the Dimaro information office or consult it on the website www.meridianemonclassico.it
To return to Dimaro you can continue from Presson along via Marchetti to the bridge or alternatively you can follow the cycling and pedestrian path that runs along the Noce stream.
You can reach the village of Dimaro by train (download the outbound and return timetables)
To undertake this walk we recommend wearing hiking boots and a cap and carrying a waterproof jacket, sunscreen and a water bottle in your backpack.
Don’t forget a camera or your phone to capture the landscapes and views you like best. If you want, you can share them on social media using #visitvaldisole.
