Delicate and colorful, butterflies are often thought to exist only as subjects of poems and fairy tales, but in reality, they play a crucial ecological role. In the Cóvel plain lies a peat bog. The slow movement of its waters nurtures immense biodiversity, purifies pollutants from water, and traps large amounts of atmospheric carbon.
