Strino Fort

Customs and traditions

Description

Fort Strino is located along the road going towards Passo Tonale, between the town of Vermiglio and Passo Tonale. Built in 1862, it is part of a fortification system in Trentino devised by the Austrian Militia after the Wars of Independence, when the Trentino region became the southern border of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Both the fort and the town of Vermiglio played a key role on the warfront, and today, almost 80 years after the end of these tragic events, the fort has been patiently and meticulously restored in order to become a historical museum on the «White War».
