The flavour of tradition

The mountains, water, sun, fresh air: these are the ingredients that, together with the hands of those who love the land where they live, lend unique taste and aroma to local products in Val di Sole.
Here, in our mountain dairies and in little businesses, they make dairy products: yogurt, butter and especially cheese, like Casolét, a typical soft mountain cheese, or Trentingrana and many local varieties.  Artisan butchers all over the valley follow ancient recipes to make tasty sausages, salami and other cured meats that include luganega, speck and pancetta.
In lower Val di Sole, as in nearby Val di Non, we grow the apples that you have maybe heard of because they are famous all over the world under the brand name Melinda, the only PDO apple in Italy. As well as apples they also grow small soft fruit like redcurrants, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. One of the most precious products made here that you absolutely must taste is our mountain honey, produced in small quantities thanks to synergy between beekeepers and bees.

THE FARMERS’ MARKET

Take Val di Sole home with you

On three different days during the summer, the towns of Malé, Pellizzano and Cogolo in Val di Sole host markets of produce grown by mountain farmers. Here you can buy mountain cheese, vegetables, sausages and cured meats like luganega and speck, the sweetest honey, wild strawberries and freshly picked blueberries. The Val di Sole Farmers’ Markets sell delicious products to be eaten on the spot or even taken home, perfect as souvenirs from your holiday for friends and family!
