This itinerary takes you to the Skiarea Campiglio Dolomiti di Brenta Val di Sole Val Rendena, with a spectacular view of the Brenta Dolomites.
This snowshoe outing, with an intermediate difficulty level, takes snowshoers along trails that are waymarked with signs that have a blue snowshoe on them. Please follow these guidelines for all outings on the snow:
the parking area at the beginning of the forest road going to Malga Dimaro
Baita Ciocomiti - Malga Vigo then return to the starting point
From the Folgarida ski resort, continue along the SS 239 state road towards Madonna di Campiglio. After about 3 kilometres from the Belvedere di Folgarida area, you’ll find directions to the Malga Dimaro alpine dairy and a parking area on your right, where the snow has been cleared, and where you can also leave your vehicle. Continue on foot along the forest road for about 45 minutes until you reach the Malga di Dimaro (closed in winter), where we suggest that you take a break to admire the Brenta Dolomites and the stunning Sasso Rosso peak in this picture perfect view. With the alpine dairy on your right, continue by following the directions to Malga Vigo, therefore along a gentle slope on the SAT trail n. 265 (red and white waymarked trail), where the snow covered pastures surrounding Malga Dimaro will start to disappear as you enter into the woods and the silence of the forest. Continue to follow this trail and after about 1 hour, you’ll reach Baita Ciocomiti - Malga Vigo, where, in addition to a spectacular view of the Dolomites, you can also enjoy excellent local dishes and the enthusiasm of all the skiers as they glide down the Malghette slope, in the Skiarea Campiglio Dolomiti di Brenta.
After a pleasant break you can return back to the parking area along the same route.
You can reach Campo Carlo Magno or the area called Belvedere di Folgarida with the MALÈ- FOLGARIDA - MADONNA DI CAMPIGLIO public bus (download the timetable). To reach the start of the road that goes up to Malga di Dimaro, you will have to walk along the SS 239 state road. Be careful while walking alongside the road as vehicles travel quite quickly along this section. The start of the itinerary is about 3 km after the Folgarida Belvedere bus stop and about 2 km back if you get off at Campo Carlo Magno, at the Genziana bus stop.
In Val di Sole follow the SS42 state road to Dimaro and at the roundabout take the SS 239 state road towards Folgarida - Madonna di Campiglio. When you reach Folgarida, remain on the main road, and about 3 km after the area called Belvedere di Folgarida (the upper part of Folgarida), you’ll find a forest road on your right that goes to the Malga di Dimaro. During the winter season, it is not possible to travel along this road with your vehicle in case of snow, but you can leave your vehicle in the parking area and then walk up to the alpine dairy.
If you’re coming from Folgarida, park in the parking area on your right located at the beginning of the forest road (not accessible with snow) that goes to the Malga di Dimaro alpine dairy.
